In England, they claim that Cuti Romero will be a reinforcement for Atlético Madrid.
The media in that country believe that 'unless a miracle happens,' the former Belgrano player will leave Spurs in the next transfer window
Without a doubt, the club with the greatest connection to the Argentine National Team currently is Atlético Madrid under Cholo Simeone. Julián Álvarez, Rodrigo De Paul, Giuliano Simeone, Nahuel Molina, and Ángel Correa are all players of the Albiceleste, and there could be one more next transfer market.
It is not about the possible return of Juan Musso after his loan at Atalanta, but a much more resonant chance that would involve the arrival of an undisputed starter of the Scaloneta. The targeted player would be Cristian Cuti Romero, who, according to English media, might be playing his last matches with Tottenham's jersey.

At the end of March, there had already been talk of the Colchonero team's interest in the Cordoban defender, but in recent days, from England, they reinforced that version. They even claim that the player himself would be willing to force his departure, despite having a contract until 2027.
Journalist Alex Crook, from talkSPORT, provided more details on the matter: "Romero wants to leave, and I find it understandable. He wants to play in the Champions League. Atlético Madrid is very interested in taking him to Spain and, due to his characteristics, he would fit perfectly into Simeone's scheme."
The only reason that would keep him in London
Despite his weight within the squad, where he is vice-captain and one of the main leaders, there is only one scenario in which Cuti could stay at Tottenham. That situation would be if the club manages to conquer the Europa League (today they play the second leg of the quarterfinals against Eintracht Frankfurt after the 1-1 draw in the first leg) and, with that, qualify for the next edition of the Champions League.
"Unless a miracle happens and Tottenham wins the Europa League, it's most likely that Romero will leave in the summer," Crook stated. Additionally, the British journalist acknowledged that, for coach Ange Postecoglou, the Argentine is not considered a key piece.

"He is a player who divides opinions. I think van de Ven is the most important center-back for the style that Postecoglou proposes," commented Crook, who also pointed to Radu Dragusin and Kevin Danso as possible replacements in the defense.
So far, Romero has played 119 matches with the Spurs. Despite missing several games due to injury this season, he was always a starter when available. It is worth remembering that Tottenham paid 52 million euros to Atalanta for his transfer.
With all these factors on the table, if his departure is finally realized, Atlético Madrid will have to negotiate for an amount close to what the English club invested to sign him.
