Galatasaray forward appears as a reinforcement for Luciano Spalletti's Vecchia Signora, who described him as 'one of the best forwards I have ever coached'

In the final stretch of the Italian transfer window, Juventus went all in for Mauro Icardi and is looking to finalize his signing before the transfer window closes, which is scheduled for this Monday night. The negotiation is taking on a particular nuance, since the Turin team and Galatasaray will face each other in February in the Champions League play-offs, with a place in the round of 16 at stake.
The Argentine forward has a valid contract for six more months with the Turkish club, but in recent hours Italian media have reported that his agent is in Istanbul negotiating an early exit. Between Icardi and Juventus there is reportedly already a full agreement, with an 18-month deal ready to be signed if the situation is unlocked.

The interest responds to a concrete need of the team coached by Luciano Spalletti, which intends to add another center forward to expand offensive options and offer an alternative to Randal Kolo Muani. Although an official fee for the transfer has not yet been disclosed, one of the main obstacles lies in the difficulty for the Turkish club to find a replacement in such a short time.
If it goes through, Icardi would have his third spell in Serie A, after his stints at Sampdoria and Inter. In those teams he left a deep mark with 154 goals in 258 matches and even wore the captain's armband. His possible return is also linked to Spalletti, who has already coached him and has once again praised him publicly.
When he was asked at a press conference, the coach highlighted the forward from Rosario and compared him with Victor Osimhen, his teammate at Galatasaray: ""I have a lot to say about Osimhen. I also like to talk about Icardi. Both, in their own way, have blood type number 9. They have undeniable qualities; with both of them you have every plan: plan A, plan B, plan C"," he stated.

He then elaborated with a metaphor that reflects his view of the Argentine: ""With them, you have the solutions; you just have to decide how to get back home: whether to ring the doorbell, smash the door in, or knock it down. Osimhen knocks it down; the other one, in terms of finishing inside the box,was one of the best forwards I have had the good fortune to coach".
