Kicillof 'honored' Pope Francis by naming a highway exit after him

In a new act of populism, the ultra-Kirchnerist governor continues squandering the taxes of the people of Buenos Aires

In a new chapter of his populist management, the governor of Buenos Aires, the ultra-Kirchnerist Axel Kicillof, inaugurated a ramp on the Buenos Aires-La Plata Highway this Tuesday, at the height of Avenida 520, naming it "Pope Francis" in homage to the Supreme Pontiff who passed away last Monday.

The project, which cost 13.378 billion pesos, is a new example of how the provincial government squanders resources on projects of questionable priority while the province faces a serious financial, health, education, and security crisis.

Accompanied by the Minister of Infrastructure, Gabriel Katopodis, the Minister of Transportation, Martín Marinucci, the president of AUBASA, José Arteaga, and the mayor of La Plata, Julio Alak, Kicillof cut the ribbons of the project and took the opportunity to launch criticisms against the Government of Javier Milei, accusing it of supposedly "paralyzing public works".

However, Kicillof's goal is to try to gain some political credit with a symbolic gesture toward the late Pope Francis, who would deserve much more than a simple highway ramp.

Kicillof justified the waste by assuring that it will boost private investments and revalue properties: "This is a public work with a comprehensive approach that will drive the development of many private investments: businesses will be established, new ventures will arise, and properties will be revalued," stated the governor, who at the same time is responsible for destroying economic activity in his province with massive tax increases.

Meanwhile, Minister Katopodis stated that the project is part of the comprehensive infrastructure plan that is underway in the province and that "vindicates the role of the State" in public works, an icon of corruption of former President Cristina Kirchner.

"We believe that there is no possible development for our region without a State that invests in its infrastructure. We will continue with our agenda of planning intelligently and strategically to provide concrete answers," he stated, while the people of Buenos Aires suffer from the lack of quality education and health, along with a huge security crisis.
