The recent announcement of support from the United States Treasury and President Donald Trump for the government of Javier Milei and Argentina has caused strong anger from Kirchnerism, whose members submitted a communication bill in the Senate to emphatically reject any assistance from Washington.
The text, signed by K senators such as Mariano Recalde and Oscar Parrilli, states: “The Senate of the Nation emphatically rejects the negotiations that the National Executive Branch is conducting with the United States Treasury without the proper intervention, debate, and approval of the National Congress.”
This statement comes at a time when the Milei administration has been achieving a historic level of international support for the country in recent years.
El proyecto kirchnerista.
Not only has the U.S. Treasury, under the leadership of Scott Bessent, indicated that it is willing to “do whatever is necessary” to support Argentina's economic stabilization, but Trump himself, through messages on social media and public statements, has highlighted Milei as a “fantastic leader” and guaranteed his “total support” for Argentina to resume growth.
However, far from valuing this support, Kirchnerism has chosen to take a new step in the opposite direction. This stance once again demonstrates the repeated pattern in Kirchnerism of generating systematic resistance to any measure from the Executive Branch, even when the country is in a process of recovery and needs confidence and international support.
Trump's support for Milei
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, published a message yesterday on his Truth Social network in which he expressed strong support for the Argentine president, Javier Milei, whom he described as a “fantastic and powerful leader.”
Milei agradeció el respaldo de Trump: 'Nueva era de estabilidad y libertad'
In his statement, Trump said that Milei “has proven to be a truly fantastic and powerful leader for the great people of Argentina, advancing at all levels at record speed.” The Republican leader recalled that the Argentine president inherited what he defined as a “total disaster” in economic matters, with high inflation, which he attributed to the management of the previous Kirchnerist government.
Trump emphasized that under Milei's leadership, the Argentine economy “has regained stability” and reached “a new level of prominence and respect.” In that regard, he highlighted that the bilateral relationship between the United States and Argentina “has become a strong alliance” and attributed that rapprochement to the libertarian president.
“I look forward to continuing to work closely with him so both countries can continue on their unbelievable paths of success,” Trump wrote. He also described Milei as “a very good friend, fighter, and winner,” and concluded the message with a forceful phrase: “He has my complete and total support for reelection as president. He'll never let you down!”
