After reporting historic quarterly profits, Krafton confirmed a structural change aimed at transforming the company into an artificial intelligence-driven organization. The South Korean firm, known globally for titles such as PUBG: Battlegrounds and InZoi, announced massive investments focused on both automation and training its staff in generative AI technologies.
Chief Executive Officer Kim Chang-han explained that the mission is to delegate repetitive tasks to automation so that teams can focus on creativity, innovation, and solving more complex problems. In this context, the company will invest about USD 20 million in internal training and another USD 70 million to develop a specialized GPU cluster and high-performance computing systems, which are essential for training advanced AI models at an industrial scale.
This technological leap includes a reorganization that prioritizes areas related to new intellectual properties and strategic projects based on artificial intelligence, while the rest of the sectors will see the hiring of external personnel slowed down—almost entirely.
The voluntary severance program: benefits and scope
As part of this transition process, Krafton launched a voluntary severance plan that offers compensation based on each employee's length of service. The benefits start at six months' salary for those with one year or less at the company and go up to 36 months for those with more than eleven years of experience.

The company states that the program aims to support those who wish to redirect their professional careers in a global context where artificial intelligence is changing job profiles, functions, and workplace dynamics. The stated goal is to facilitate new paths, both within and outside the company, with significantly high financial incentives for those who choose to take part in the plan.
The announcement comes after a semester with record figures, which places this process at the center of the internal conversation about the sector's reorganization and the evolution of the production model in the gaming industry.
A move that is part of a global trend in gaming
Krafton's change of direction is happening in parallel with similar decisions at major international studios. Square Enix announced that it aims to have 70% of its quality control processes automated by AI by 2027, while other companies, such as Nexon, are also moving toward models where artificial intelligence is gaining prominence in key stages of development.

This phenomenon opens a debate about the impact on traditional job opportunities and the professional development of workers in the sector, who now face the pressure to adapt to new technological skills. At Krafton, this process adds to internal disputes, such as the conflict over the management of Subnautica 2 at Unknown Worlds, which contributes to a climate of deep transformation.
The accelerated integration of AI marks a new stage in global gaming. Although Krafton states that its strategy aims to boost productivity and creative development, the sector is closely watching how this transition is redefining structures, roles, and the future of work in the video game industry.
