The leader of the leftist German Green Party called for taking up arms against the AFD.
Jette Nierzard, president of the youth branch of 'Los Verdes,' has called for 'armed resistance' if the AfD manages to come to power
In Germany, a recent statement by Jette Nietzard, president of the youth organization of the Green Party (Grüne Jugend), has caused great controversy in the country.
During a radio program broadcast by the public station RBB, Nietzard suggested that it might be necessary to resort to armed resistance if the right-wing party AfD (Alternative for Germany) were to become part of a government in 2029.
"What would resistance look like then? Is it intellectual, perhaps with weapons?" asked the youth leader, who refrained from taking a personal position but suggested that society should be willing to do so.
When asked if that would mean going against the democratic will of the voters, Nietzard replied ineptly: "Against fascism".

AfD rises in the polls
The statements have been harshly criticized by various political and social sectors, as they imply a possible justification of political violence in the face of a democratic election, which is extremely dangerous for any constitutional system.
AfDis a legally recognized political organization that represents millions of German citizens concerned about issues such as mass immigration, national identity, security, and political sovereignty.
A national poll conducted in April shows how the right-wing party has broken through the so-called "magic barrier" and has positioned itself as the party with the highest percentage of voting intention in the country, reaching 26%.

The German left becomes radicalized
This is not the first time Nietzard has been involved in public scandals. A few weeks ago, she posed wearing a sweater with the initials "A.C.A.B.," commonly interpreted as "All Cops Are Bastards", which earned her criticism from both police unions and members of her own party.
More recently, she caused another wave of outrage after describing the Hamas terrorist attack against Israeli civilians, in which more than 1,200 people were killed, as a mere "military operation". The video was deleted and she apologized, but the damage to her image was already done.
The constant radicalization in the discourse of youth leaders like Nietzard reflects a dangerous drift within numerous sectors of German progressive politics.
