The Jewish school BAMI (Bet Am Medinath Israel) Marc Chagall was the target this Friday of a new antisemitic attack in the City of Buenos Aires. During the morning, the institution, located at 4900 Alcaraz Street in the Monte Castro neighborhood, appeared with threatening and intimidating graffiti on the security posts and on the sidewalk in front of the establishment.

"Today, when we arrived early at the institution, the graffiti was on the protective posts that Jewish institutions have, and there was also some on the floor at the entrance," said Rabbi Adrián Herbst in an interview with Infobae.

In addition to covering with paint the messages related to the war in Gaza, which has already ended, the school's authorities filed the corresponding report with the Argentine Federal Police, the City Police, and notified DAIA.

According to reports, after reviewing security cameras, both private and those of the City, the perpetrator of the graffiti was identified, and the justice system is already involved in the case to locate his whereabouts. "Thank God we're all fine, but it's an unpleasant situation that obviously shouldn't happen in our country or anywhere in the world," said Rabbi Herbst.

He added: "We keep moving forward. This kind of thing isn't going to intimidate us. We are very clear about our ideology, our line. We obviously feel very proud to be Jewish and to be part of Argentine society. The message we give to our students and to all areas of our community is one of peace, of coexistence. This kind of thing, of course, is totally out of place. We're going to fight together as Jews and as Argentines, mainly, so that this kind of thing doesn't happen anymore in our country."

The school also released a statement addressed to families. "Dear families, today, unfortunately, we woke up to antisemitic graffiti on one of the posts at the Jonte entrance. It has already been covered up and the corresponding reports were filed with DAIA, the Federal Police, and the City Police, who have already come to the school seeking to strengthen security conditions for all our families and in all the activities we carry out in our institution," the message begins.

The text continues: "We repudiate this cowardly act of irrational hatred. As a school belonging to the Federation of Jewish Schools of Argentina, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the State of Israel and we will continue working for an education based on respect for differences, without discrimination, and for peace."

Finally, the statement, signed by the Executive Board, the Management Team, and the Board of Directors, concludes: "Today, at the school, in every grade and classroom, we are working as usual, and we will continue to do so with pride, in all institutional areas. We are available to address any concerns about this matter. Am Israel Chai!"
