In a move that essentially changes the political landscape of Buenos Aires, Karina Milei and Mauricio Macri formalized an electoral alliance between La Libertad Avanza and PRO to compete together in the City of Buenos Aires next October 26. The agreement, sealed at the presidential residence in Olivos, is presented as political protection for the project that President Javier Milei launched in December 2023 and that, according to its promoters, continues to show concrete results for the country.

"Both of us are convinced that Argentina needs to maintain and deepen the path that President Javier Milei successfully began in December 2023," stated the Secretary General of the Presidency, who led the negotiation alongside the former president and current head of PRO.

The meeting, held on Wednesday night, finalized the last details of an alliance that will bear only the name of the libertarian party. "The La Libertad Avanza alliance is much more than an electoral agreement; it's the confirmation that no personal or political interest is above our commitment to the future of Argentinians," emphasized Karina Milei.

The pact represents an unprecedented gesture from Macri, who is giving up ground in the district where PRO has governed uninterruptedly since 2007, and where the yellow party suffered a major setback last May: the list headed by Silvia Lospennato finished third and failed to win in any district. This stumble, together with the resounding victory of presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni in that same election, increased the libertarian political capital and strengthened its negotiating position.

Karina Milei made the spirit of the understanding clear: "Nothing is more important than defending the course. We're not going to allow those who want to destroy the country again to regain power."

The alliance seeks to prevent Kirchnerism from increasing its representation in Congress or gaining influence in a historic stronghold where it has never managed to prevail. The second place achieved by Leandro Santoro in May, just behind Adorni, set off alarms in PRO and accelerated the decision to join forces with La Libertad Avanza.

In her final message, the Secretary General of the Presidency thanked "the PRO team, Mauricio Macri, and Cristian Ritondo" for their key role in the agreement, also highlighting Ritondo's participation in the Buenos Aires campaign launched that same day by Javier Milei in Villa Celina, together with leaders and candidates from both parties.

Karina Milei posted on X:

"Together with the President of PRO, Mauricio Macri, we reached an agreement to form an alliance to compete together in the City of Buenos Aires next October 26.
Both of us are convinced that Argentina needs to maintain and deepen the path that President Javier Milei successfully began in December 2023. For this reason, the foundation of this agreement is the non-negotiable commitment of our representatives in Congress to defend the economic plan and fight the cultural battle whenever history requires it, until 2027.
The La Libertad Avanza alliance is much more than an electoral agreement; it's the confirmation that no personal or political interest is above our commitment to the future of Argentinians.
Nothing is more important than defending the course. We're not going to allow those who want to destroy the country again to regain power.
Thank you to the PRO team, Mauricio Macri, and Cristian Ritondo. We're going to transform Argentina.
La Libertad Avanza."
