Lionel Scaloni flatly denied Brazil's interest in having him as their new coach.
The coach of the Argentina National Team denied a possible call from the Verdeamarelha and also assured that he would reject it if it happened
It seems like a real madness, but in Brazil, the name of Lionel Scaloni as a possible candidate to coach the Canarinha began to circulate, albeit timidly, after being thrashed 4-1 by Argentina and going through a directionless stage in the Qualifiers. Some local media echoed the version, and it ended up reaching the ears of the coach from Pujato, who reacted with humor and quickly dismissed the idea.
During a relaxed conversation with Spanish journalist Siro López, the current world champion and two-time champion of America had his face change upon hearing this supposed link with the Scratch. "I'm finding out now, they didn't call me, just in case…", he said, surprised.

With the relaxed tone that characterizes him, he also allowed himself to joke. "I feel it in my soul, but no", he replied bluntly when asked if he would consider that option at this stage of his career. He even opened the door for Carlo Ancelotti with a smile: "Let Carlo go calmly if he has to go, but not me, ha".
Scaloni also commented that he would like to coach a club later on, although he didn't set specific dates, as his current focus is on the 2026 World Cup: "I'm fine like this. I'm taking my time. Of course, I would like to coach a club at some point. And Depor (La Coruña), it's what we said…".
Towards the end of the preview shared by López (the full interview will air next Monday), the Argentine coach recalled the criticism he received from Diego Maradona at the beginning in 2019. "At that time, the criticism, if you can call it criticism, was totally normal. I hadn't coached anywhere. Yes, I took courses, but I had no experience, and he, true to his style, was a person who didn't hold back. In a way, I'm not saying he wasn't right, but he didn't say anything strange because I hadn't coached anywhere".

Where does the rumor come from?
The promoter of this outrageous idea was Flavio Prado, who, on the program "Jovem Pan Esporte," mentioned Scaloni as a candidate to coach Brazil after the departure of Dorival Júnior.

"The Brazilian Football Confederation should make an offer to Scaloni. It would be a disaster for Argentina. You offer him five times what he earns, and he'll go crazy", explained the journalist.
He also added: "In the worst case, you blow up the AFA's safe. A proposal must be made to Scaloni. If he crosses over, good for the CBF. Anyway, they've already thrown money away. If he doesn't accept, you create chaos in the Argentine National Team".
