The socialist deputy Esteban Paulón has once again generated controversy in Congress following the proposal of a new initiative aligned with the international LGTB+ agenda. This time, the legislator did not present a project on prostitution, but one to declare the documentary “Amor Trava” of interest to the Chamber of Deputies, by the Rosario filmmaker Lucrecia Mastrángelo.
The text proposes to recognize the work for its supposed contribution to the “visibility of travesti and trans identities,” the promotion of the LGBTIQ+ lobby, and the dissemination of ballroom culture (LGTB's Afro-Americans), defined in the project as a space for expression, containment, and political and collective construction.
A few days ago, the same congressman presented a project to create the "National Day of Prostitution"
According to the arguments presented by Paulón, the documentary tells the story of Aurora, a 19-year-old in the process of transitioning. The film addresses her projects, fears, expectations, and the dysfunctional relationship with her mother, aiming to normalize the LGTB+ sexual and cultural experience.
Paulón also highlights that “Amor Trava” has received various international recognitions, including the award for Best LGBT Film at the Palermo International Film Festival 2025, Best LGBT Documentary at the Orlando Independent Film Festival 2026, and Best Documentary Film at the Anubhav International Film Festival 2026. He also mentions Mastrángelo's "trajectory" as a graduate in Audiovisual Communication as an argument.
The presentation once again exposed the disconnect from reality of the socialist deputy. In a Congress that should be focused on discussing security, education, employment, reducing public spending, and structural reforms, Paulón insists on pushing projects from a foreign agenda.
Among other initiatives, Paulón seeks to legalize euthanasia
A few days ago, the socialist had already promoted a project to create the “National Day of Sex Workers”, publicly presented as a commemoration related to prostitution. He also promoted an initiative to legalize euthanasia in Argentina and another to declare the “National Day of Ricotera Culture and Pogo” following the death of Indio Solari.
While the government of Javier Milei tries to advance with a fiscal order agenda, deregulation, and modernization of the state, sectors of the old politics continue to occupy legislative time with foreign progressive agendas. Paulón's new proposal marks a distance between the priorities of parliamentary progressivism and the urgencies of Argentinians.
