The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, reaffirmed the direction of the economic program and anticipated that the 2027 Budget once again contemplates a positive financial result. The official made the statements during Export Day 2026, organized by the Chamber of Exporters of the Argentine Republic (CERA), before sending the project to Congress.
“We will be presenting a fiscal financial surplus for the fourth consecutive year,” Caputo assured during his presentation. The minister stated that “it will be the first time in our history that, not being in default, Argentina has four consecutive years of surplus in the financial line” and emphasized: “This is a noteworthy fact.”
The fiscal balance as the focus of the 2027 Budget
Caputo insisted on the importance that the Government assigns to the result of public accounts. “To give you an idea of the relevance of this, it will be the first time in history that, not being in default, a Government in Argentina has four consecutive years of fiscal surplus in the financial line,” he stated.
During his presentation before exporters, the minister also defended the economic policies implemented by the national administration. “There is no doubt that we are on the right track,” he maintained, and affirmed that the program was implemented “respecting private property and the sanctity of contracts.”
Caputo also estimated an improvement in economic activity of 2.5% by the end of 2026. Regarding the outlook for the next year, he suggested that the economy would accumulate between December 2023 and 2027 “a growth of between 16 and 17 points,” according to the projections presented during the meeting.
