The journalist criticized Boca's management decision to hire the current head coach, focusing on his health condition and the role he plays at the club
Boca is going through a complicated present, without victories and with more questions than certainties. In the midst of this situation, the management of professional soccer is once again at the center of attention, and one of the decisions generating debate is the hiring of Miguel Ángel Russo as coach.
During an edition of his program on ESPN, Mariano Closs referred to the experienced coach's third cycle and pointed directly atJuan Román Riquelme and the club's management.
"It would be good to ask the directors if they chose him for what Costa said about his soccer background, because in the end there are millions of coaches. If I want to go further, Miguel already had a club. We're talking about someone who isn't in good health. Was it necessary to hire him?" he began.
Riquelme trajo a Russo por desesperación
The host continued along the same lines, questioning the reason behind his arrival: "It sounds very cold to me, very far from the human side. They went looking for protection from someone who is fighting for his health every day".
Closs delved deeper into his analysis of the management's strategy and Russo's role in this context: "I have to protect myself because everyone is criticizing me. I fired Gago, Herrón won't continue, and I have to look for a protective shield. Who is it? Miguel".
Finally, he left a reflection on the responsibility of sustaining the decision made: "The exposure is different, and if you didn't consider the state of his health when you hired him to protect yourself, are you going to fire him? If you look for him as a protector, keep him, because on a human level, someone who has an illness ends up being left on the couch at home".
