Marvel confirms new actors for Iron Man and Captain America and reboots the MCU
Kevin Feige confirmed that Marvel will reboot its universe after Secret Wars and will change Iron Man and Captain America
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has confirmed that the studio is preparing a reboot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after Avengers: Secret Wars.
The decision includes the recasting of actors for two of its most iconic characters: Iron Man and Captain America. The goal is to revitalize the saga after years marked by criticism and failures.

A new beginning for the MCU
Since the Infinity Saga ended with Avengers: Endgame, Marvel has been trying to reorganize its universe with mixed results.
Feige stated that the reboot is necessary for the franchise to reconnect with the audience. According to his explanation, the renewal of characters is a common strategy in other successful sagas.
Who will replace Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans?
Marvel hasn't revealed who the new actors will be yet, but has confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. will not return as Iron Man. Instead, he will play Doctor Doom in upcoming projects.

Meanwhile, Chris Evans has already closed his cycle as Steve Rogers, so he will also be replaced in future installments.
Feige defends the recast: "It was always like this"
During his interview with Deadline, Feige compared this change to other popular franchises: "Amy Pascal and David Heyman are looking for a new James Bond. David Corenswet did the same with Superman and it was unbelievable."
The head of Marvel keeps that renewing the faces doesn't mean leaving the characters behind, but rather finding new ways to keep telling their stories.

"Secret Wars" will usher in a new era
Avengers: Secret Wars premieres in December 2027 and will be the event that closes the Multiverse Saga.
This film will mark the end of Kang's arc, played by Jonathan Majors, and will open the door to a new phase focused on mutants and new storylines.
