Leonidas Iza once again demonstrated that he doesn't have a clear line on the country's economic direction. Although he defended dollarization as a tool for stability, his alliance with Correísmo shows a contradiction that calls the coherence of his discourse into question.
While he calls for protecting the dollar, he supports sectors that push ideas like "Ecuadorian dollarization," an ambiguous proposal promoted by figures of the Citizen Revolution.
This duality not only confuses but also reflects a political bipolarity similar to that of Correísmo itself, which claims to defend the people while undermining their economic foundations.
Iza also criticized the outflow of foreign currency but failed to point out that it was during Correísta governments when capital flight was most facilitated through opaque businesses and unjustified exemptions.
