Although the first romantic connection between Mauro Icardi and María Eugenia "La China" Suárez dates back to 2021, when they had an affair in Paris, it was only during the summer of 2025 that both of them decided to make their relationship public.
That image shared on social media marked a turning point in their personal lives and in the media landscape. Exactly one year after that moment, the forward chose to remember it with a post full of emotion.
Through his Instagram account, Icardi shared a photo gallery that goes through different moments he experienced with the actress during this first year as an official couple.

The sequence opens with that first image that confirmed the romance and continues with intimate snapshots of trips, smiles, and everyday scenes that, according to his words, reflect much more than what was seen on the outside.
"A year ago we posted a photo and, without saying too much, we told the world that we had found each other", the footballer wrote.
He then went deeper into the less visible side of the relationship: "What people couldn't see was the peace you brought me, the strength you give me, the complicity, the laughter, the real love".

The message made it clear that, for him, public exposure was only a consequence of a much deeper personal process.
In that same text, Icardi thanked his partner for her support in difficult moments and highlighted the strength of their bond.
"Thank you for walking by my side, for holding me up, for believing in us, even when it didn't seem easy", he expressed, before emphasizing that what he celebrates is not a symbolic date, but the present they share and the future he envisions with her.
The post also included a long-term declaration that did not go unnoticed. "May a thousand more photos come, a thousand trips, a thousand projects, a thousand sunrises together. My present is you, and my future is you too", the player wrote, who ended the message with a forceful phrase: "A year ago we said "here we are" publicly. Today I tell you "here I stay" forever".
La China Suárez reacted immediately to the gesture. She shared the post in her Instagram stories and, minutes later, she added an image of Icardi accompanied by two eloquent emojis: a lovestruck face and a heart on fire.
