Despite the sustained demand from the fans for a definitive expansion of La Bombonera, the Boca management continues to opt for partial interventions that barely modify the structure of the stadium. In recent hours, the club announced a new renovation in the lower tier, a project that once again puts up for debate the course chosen by the administration led by Juan Román Riquelme.
The project includes the creation of a gastronomic patio in section L, intended for the season ticket holders in that area, along with the construction of new restrooms and improvements to the access points. As a central point, the intervention will allow the addition of only 180 new seats, a number that is marginal compared to the historic demand from members who are left out match after match, bringing the total capacity to 57,380.
The initiative doesn't represent a novelty in terms of planning. Boca will replicate the model already applied in the middle tier, where a food court was inaugurated and conceived as a relaxation space inside the stadium. Although a specific date for the start of the work has not yet been announced, the club assures that it will begin in the short term.
