Meghan Markle spoke out against the royal family in her new Netflix show

The Duchess of Sussex talks about her transition to a new stage in the series 'With Love, Meghan'

Meghan Markle introduced a new chapter in her personal and professional life with the launch of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, a lifestyle show that debuted on the platform. Throughout the 8-episode series, the Duchess of Sussex takes an introspective look at her past life,  marking a contrast with her role as a member of the British royal family.

Towards the end of the show Markle shared a speech and thanked her husband, Prince Harry, her mother, Doria Ragland, and others for the support received while she embarked on her new professional path. She expressed that this stage represented her "new chapter" and highlighted her return to the entertainment world as "part of the creativity she had so missed."

This return to public life comes after Meghan left her acting career to become a full-time royal following her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.

However, despite having left Hollywood behind to fulfill royal duties, in 2020 the couple stepped down from their roles within the royal family, allowing Meghan to gradually return to her professional career in Los Angeles, alongside Harry. This decision, known worldwide, marked a turning point in their lives.

Personal reflections and her life in California

Markle shared reflections on her life, including a powerful statement by noting that "what's broken is still beautiful, it can be fixed, sealed, and healed."

This statement connects with her previous revelation about her mental health shared in the 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. There she  confessed having had suicidal thoughts due to the pressure and criticism she faced while being part of the royalty.

Additionally, the former actress expressed with nostalgia how much she missed her home in California, mentioning that her last dish on the show was a "taste of home." This made it clear how important it is for her to live in her hometown, a stark contrast to her life in the United Kingdom.

Impact and reception of the show

The show With Love, Meghan caused divided opinions among viewers. Some praise the lifestyle approach and others feel that the content doesn't meet the expectations set by the $100 million Netflix deal, especially after her previous documentary series, Polo, didn't meet audience expectations.

The future of Markle's series on Netflix will depend on how the viewing figures evolve. The public seems more interested in her lifestyle guru facet than in her former acting career.
