MercadoLibre invests US$135 million and expands its logistics in Chile
The Argentine company will open a center in Colina and its first regional warehouse in Concepción, generating more than 600 jobs
MercadoLibre, leader in e-commerce and digital financial services in Latin America, announced an investment of 135 million dollars in Chile to expand its logistics capacity and consolidate its presence in the country.
The company will build a new distribution center in Colina, north of Santiago, with 100,000 square meters (1,076,391 square feet) dedicated to storage and operations, which will allow the company to double the capacity for sellers operating on its platform.

Opening of regional center in Concepción
Additionally, MercadoLibre will open its first regional warehouse in Concepción, in the Biobío region, adding to the 4,100 square meter (44,132 square feet) center it has had in San Pedro de la Paz since 2021. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand in southern Chile and optimize delivery times for local customers and merchants.
Alan Meyer, vice president of Andean Countries at MercadoLibre, stated that "Chile needs to grow, and we trust in the country's future. This requires new capabilities and facilities to continue on that path."

Impact on employment and the local economy
The investment will generate more than 600 new jobs, adding to the more than 2,600 currently in areas such as logistics, fintech, technology, product, commercial, finance, marketing, and administration. This expansion follows the one announced in April 2025, when the company committed 500 million dollars in the country, creating more than 900 jobs.

In 2024, MercadoLibre reported net revenue of 21 billion dollars and exceeded a gross merchandise volume of 51.5 billion, consolidating its leadership in the region.
With these new centers, the company strengthens its growth strategy in Chile, optimizing sellers' operations and improving the experience for consumers.
