Within the framework of international research that exposed an organized disinformation network driven from Russia to influence Argentine politics, the focus begins to shift from abstract structures to concrete individual responsibilities. What was initially presented as a diffuse scheme of paid publications, is now beginning to outline identifiable actors within the local media ecosystem. In this context, A24 launched an internal investigation against journalist Pablo Winokur, who is allegedly responsible for writing and publishing fake news financed by Russia to operate against the Government of Javier Milei. The decision also includes the determination to make itself available to justice in case it is necessary to advance judicially, which marks the institutional seriousness of the case
.The information was revealed by journalist Pablo Rossi, who confirmed that within the channel itself they were able to identify Winokur as the author of the questioned notes. From there, Grupo América launched an internal investigation to determine responsibilities surrounding the publication of these contents. The starting point was an email sent on March 10 to channel A24 by the consortium of journalists “Open Democracy”, under the subject “Consultation of journalist Diana Cariboni”. That email indicated the existence of ten articles suspected of being part of the disinformation scheme funded by Russia
.
Based on that alert, the group's internal investigation made it possible to establish that all the above-mentioned notes belonged to the journalist editor Pablo Winokur, who worked in A24. As it turned out, the journalist had already been displaced in December and relocated to another area, in a decision that now takes on new relevance in the light of the facts. After being at the center of the scandal, Winokur decided to make his Instagram and X accounts private, after being identified by the media itself as the alleged author of Russian-funded fake news aimed at operating against
the Government. The case is part of a larger plot that, according to leaked documents and international investigations, reveals that since 2024, a structure linked to the Russian government has deployed a systematic disinformation campaign in Argentina, with the objective of discrediting the ruling party, influencing public opinion and amplifying political polarization. The report details the publication of at least 250 paid articles in more than 20 digital media, with content critical to the Government's economic plan and foreign policy, including messages favorable to Russia and against the United States. Among the media mentioned are C5N, Ámbito, Diario Con Vos, El Destape, Big Bang News, Registered Diario, A24, Realpolitik, Argentine Politics, Tiempo Argentino, Grito del Sur, El Cronista, Infocielo and Data Clave,
among others. One of the most sophisticated mechanisms detected was the use of fake journalists created with artificial intelligence, designed to give the content an appearance of legitimacy. Cases such as that of Manuel Godsin, whose identity was completely denied, or the fictitious profiles of Gabriel Di Taranto, Juan Carlos López and Marcelo Lopreiatto,
