Microsoft clears up any doubts: Kojima's horror game is still on track
Despite the cancellations on Xbox, Microsoft confirmed that OD, Kojima's new game, is still in development
OD, the video game from Kojima Productions in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios, remains in development. Microsoft confirmed this after doubts grew following several recent cancellations.
The news brings some relief to fans of Hideo Kojima, amid a complicated scenario for Xbox, which includes layoffs and closures of internal studios.

Why did people think OD was in danger?
In recent weeks, alarms were raised among players due to recent decisions by Microsoft Gaming:
- Cancellation of titles such as Perfect Dark and Everwild
- Closure of studios such as The Initiative
- Layoffs in teams such as Turn 10 (Forza Motorsport)
- Suspension of Contraband, developed by Avalanche Studios
The information was revealed by journalist Jason Schreier (Bloomberg), who stated that a Microsoft representative confirmed to him that OD remains in development.

What is known about OD, Kojima's new game?
OD was announced at the end of 2023 during The Game Awards. It is a horror video game that will leverage Xbox Cloud Gaming technology.
In the first teaser, close-ups with a high level of realism were shown of actors such as Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier. In addition, renowned director Jordan Peele (Get Out, NOPE) is also involved.

An experimental proposal
Kojima's goal with this project is to explore new narrative forms. According to his explanation, he seeks to create "more human" experiences and play with the player's emotions using cloud technology.
The crisis of confidence in Xbox
The cancellations and restructurings have caused a strong climate of uncertainty among the brand's followers. Many fear for the fate of announced titles that have gone a long time without updates.
In addition to OD, other games such as State of Decay 3 have come under scrutiny.

Kojima is also working with Sony
Meanwhile, alongside OD, the Japanese studio is developing Physint, a collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment and Columbia Pictures.
This new title was announced after the release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. It promises an experience that blends film and video game, as is already customary in Kojima's projects.
