The president Javier Milei was awarded this Saturday in Brazil with the Order of Ipiranga at the Grand Cross level, the highest distinction granted by the State of São Paulo.

The award ceremony took place during his official visit, in a meeting with Governor Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes, the seat of the São Paulo Executive.

The Argentine leader arrived at the government headquarters accompanied by the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, and the Chancellor Pablo Quirno. Upon his arrival, he was received with military honors, in a ceremonial event that marked the beginning of the official agenda in the Brazilian state.

The schedule of activities began at 9 in the morning with the meeting between Milei and Governor Gomes de Freitas.

The reception included a blue carpet laid out at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes, a symbolic detail that refers to the “blue wave” of right-wing administrations emerging in Latin America and represents a reversal of the traditional red carpet, associated with communism.

In this context, the Argentine head of state was awarded the Order of Ipiranga at the Grand Cross level, the most important decoration that can be granted by the State of São Paulo. The recognition is part of the strengthening of ties between both administrations and the political rapprochement among right-wing governments in the region.

After the ceremony, a working meeting took place between the delegations of both countries. The meeting included the First Lady of the State of São Paulo, Cristiane Freitas; the senator from Rio de Janeiro, Flavio Bolsonaro; the mayor of the city of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes; and the head of the International Advisory of the State, Samo Tosatti.

On the Argentine side, in addition to the President, Karina Milei and Pablo Quirno participated in the meeting, along with the Consul General in São Paulo, Luis María Kreckler.

Milei's visit to São Paulo occurs in a context of increasing alignment among political leaders in the region who promote right-wing policies. In this framework, the decoration received by the Argentine leader represents a gesture of political support and recognition of his leadership.
