The video game Mouse: P.I. For Hire, developed by Fumi Games in collaboration with PlaySide Studios, has been officially postponed until early 2026. Initially scheduled for 2025, the unique first-person shooter with a cartoon aesthetic and noir setting will require more development time. According to the studios, the decision is due to the need to "deliver the best possible experience" to players.

The statement was issued ahead of the Galaxies Gaming Showcase in October 2025, an event where the final release date announcement was expected. With this advance notice, the developers aim to avoid confusion and convey their commitment to quality, as well as thank the community for its support during the creation process.

Fans' reaction

The news caused a mix of disappointment and understanding among the project's followers. Since its presentation at the Summer Game Fest, Mouse: P.I. For Hire has attracted attention for its aesthetic inspired by Disney's black-and-white shorts, its film noir setting, and the participation of renowned actor Troy Baker as the voice of detective Peppers.

On social media, some players regretted the additional wait, while others appreciated the decision to prioritize quality over speed of release. Many pointed out that the recent rushed launches in the industry have demonstrated the risks of not taking the necessary time to polish a title.

Impact on the industry and expectations

The delay will affect a wide player base, since the title is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). This case adds to the growing trend of studios choosing to postpone releases to improve technical stability and gameplay, a practice that has become increasingly common following the gamer community's complaints about incomplete products.

With its unique visual proposal, detective narrative, and an orchestral soundtrack that evokes the golden age of animation, Mouse: P.I. For Hire remains one of Fumi Games' most anticipated projects. The promise of a more polished experience reinforces expectations that the title could become one of the most prominent releases of 2026.
