A video recorded in San Telmo caused a flood of criticism on social media. In the images, Natalia Oreiro seemed to prevent some fans from approaching Ricardo Mollo during a family outing. Faced with the commotion, the Uruguayan actress decided to give her version of events.
The material quickly went viral and showed Oreiro, Mollo, and their son Merlín Atahualpa walking through the traditional Buenos Aires neighborhood, surrounded by people trying to greet them and capture the moment. Although the couple replied kindly to several requests, the situation escalated when some insisted with their phones.
Natalia Oreiro's statement: "My priority is my son"
Through a series of stories on Instagram, Oreiro explained what happened that day. She stated that initially, they agreed to take photos as they usually do with those who approach them in public. However, she emphasized that the situation became uncomfortable when a person started filming her up close without her consent while she was with her son.
"We were strolling like any family," the actress stated, adding: "Sometimes I forget that we aren't a common family, but I would like to be able to enjoy that, to have the freedom to walk with my husband." According to her account, the number of people grew, and the visual harassment with cell phones intensified.
Oreiro pointed out that her reaction was solely about protecting her son. "I don't like him being filmed or having images of him shared on social media. He's a minor and didn't choose this public life," she explained.
