Netflix doubles down on Argentine fiction with a series from the '70s
Pablo Trapero directs Rodrigo de la Serna in a thriller based on the life of Aníbal Gordon
The streaming platform confirmed a new original production in Argentina, a thriller set in the 1970s. The project will be directed by Pablo Trapero, who will also serve as showrunner and screenwriter.
The series, still without an official title, will be inspired by the life of Aníbal Gordon, a well-known criminal who went from being a thief to becoming a key figure in the decade's violent landscape.
Rodrigo de la Serna was chosen to portray the feared Gordon. The cast is completed by Matías Recalt, Camila Peralta, and a special appearance by Matías Mayer.
Trapero returns with a powerful historical drama
Pablo Trapero returns to the scene with a fiction based on real events. The creator of "El clan"—a film with which he won the Goya for Best Ibero-American Film and the Silver Lion in Venice—will work on this project together with Pablo Fendrik, also as director.

The script was co-written with Marcos Osorio Vidal, with special collaboration from journalist and researcher Marcelo Larraquy, author of the book "Gordon," which served as the documentary basis for the story.
The production is handled by Adrián Suar and Diego Andrasnik (Preludio). Filming has already begun in Buenos Aires and will also have locations in the province of Río Negro.
With this release, Netflix continues to invest in national fiction with an auteur imprint and roots in the country's recent history.
