Nicolás González, one of the most valued players by Lionel Scaloni in the Argentina National Team and a key figure at Atlético de Madrid, once again made clear a dream he has carried for years: to play for River.
In a recent interview, the 27-year-old footballer, who joined Diego Simeone's team this season, did not hide his desire and expressed it with complete candor: "I would love to." His emotional connection with the Núñez club is both personal and familial: "For me, for my family, because we are fans, and for my brother, who is totally obsessed".
The forward even revealed that River has already contacted him via WhatsApp to gauge a possible move. However, he made it clear that the time has not yet come. "They told me they're waiting for me with open arms. Someday I would like to," he stated.
González explained that he is going through a period of rebuilding and regaining confidence at Colchonero, after an inconsistent spell in Italy. "I have just arrived at Atlético de Madrid. I would like to enjoy it because they're giving me what I needed, that little push in my life. I was coming from a not-so-good footballing moment. Nowadays, I'm gradually getting it back and I have to prove myself with this jersey," he emphasized.

Nevertheless, his emotional and professional roadmap already has an imagined itinerary. After fulfilling the dream of playing for River, Nico also plans to return to the club that developed him: Argentinos Juniors. "I would love to retire at Argentinos. Thanks to them, I am who I am. I would like to wear that jersey, whether it's for a year, six months, or however long I get. And I would like to be in good physical condition. I have the age in mind to return, but I'm not going to say it," he joked, leaving the mystery open.
With an active contract in Europe and a rising career, González has not set any deadlines. However, his message was clear: River's call excites him, the door is open, and the dream remains intact.
