The future of Franco Colapinto no longer depends on rumors or speculations. Alpine officially confirmed this Thursday that the Argentine will continue as one of its main drivers in 2027, a decision that will allow him to face his second full season in the Formula 1 with the same team and alongside Pierre Gasly.

The continuity of the Buenos Aires native was a possibility that had gained momentum in recent weeks and was finally sealed by the Enstone team. The announcement came just days after the Dutch Grand Prix and on the eve of the next championship event, the Italian Grand Prix.

"We continue the journey. Franco Colapinto completes our lineup for 2027", Alpine communicated through its social media with a video featuring the Argentine, Gasly, Flavio Briatore, and Steve Nielsen.

For Colapinto, the confirmation represents recognition for a season in which he managed to establish himself within the team and show sustained evolution. The Argentine scored 19 points in the first 12 races of the championship, gained points in six Grand Prix, and achieved his best results of the year in Miami, where he finished seventh, and Montreal, where he reached sixth place.

"I am very happy to stay with this team in 2027. I feel very happy and very settled here, and it has been even better that we have made significant progress this year compared to last", expressed the driver, who also highlighted the work done by the team and assured that his goals are to continue advancing towards competing for wins.

Colapinto also thanked Alpine and its main leaders for their trust. "Our long-term goals are clear: to compete and win, and I am grateful to the team, to Flavio, and to Steve for the trust placed in me to be one of their drivers in the future.I am very eager to see how things develop and, above all, I want to focus on my work", he stated.

For his part, Briatore particularly valued the evolution of the Argentine and the possibility of maintaining a stable lineup. "We have seen Franco really grow and mature into a great driver this year. His results in Miami and Montreal especially confirmed what I already knew: Franco belongs in Formula 1 and belongs to this team", he affirmed.

The Italian also emphasized that Alpine's main challenge will be outside the cockpit. "For me, maintaining consistency is very important. Now we are established from the drivers' perspective, and I have said many times that while this is an important part of the puzzle, the most significant thing we need to do well is design and build a fast racing car", he explained.

At 23 years old and with 38 appearances in Formula 1, Colapinto will now face the final stretch of 2026 with the peace of mind of having his spot guaranteed on the grid for the following year. Meanwhile, Alpine will bet on the continuity of its drivers to support the development of a project aimed at progressively closing the gap to the front positions.

When does Colapinto race again

After his complicated participation in Zandvoort, the Argentine, who will now have the upgrades in his A526 that Alpine developed during the summer break, will seek to recover at the Italian Grand Prix. Activities at the iconic Italian circuit will begin on Friday, September 4 with his first free practices and conclude on Sunday, September 6 with the main race.

Previously, the native of Pilar had two races at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The first was in 2024, during his debut as a main driver for Williams, where he finished 12th, while the second was last year, already with Alpine, where he crossed the finish line in 17th position.
