On the way to the debate, Manuel Adorni anticipated that he would propose closing the Canal de la Ciudad
Additionally, the presidential spokesperson launched a strong criticism of both PRO and Kirchnerism
In the lead-up to the debate of candidates for Buenos Aires City legislators that will take place tonight, the candidate from La Libertad Avanza, Manuel Adorni, launched a strong criticism of both the PRO and Kirchnerism and anticipated one of his proposals:closing the Canal de la Ciudad, the state communication medium of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
"Heading to the Canal de la Ciudad for the debate of candidates for Buenos Aires City legislators. The PRO promised to close this channel 17 years ago: today it allocates 4.5 billion pesos annually in budget. Kirchnerism, if it could, would fill it with cronies and activists. We're going to close it," Adorni wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter).

Adorni's criticism directly targets the public spending represented by the existence of the Buenos Aires state channel, in a context where La Libertad Avanza promotes the reduction of spending and the elimination of unnecessary state structures or those used for partisan purposes.
The spokesperson for President Javier Milei also targeted the Buenos Aires administration, led by the PRO, by recalling an unfulfilled promise from almost two decades ago. He also took the opportunity to differentiate himself from Kirchnerism, which he accused of using public media as a refuge for political militancy.

The Canal de la Ciudad is the official television signal of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, and it will be responsible for broadcasting the debate between candidates. Adorni's proposal to close it reflects his intention to make spending cuts in the City, consistent with Javier Milei's national discourse, who also closed public media like Télam, which served as the propaganda apparatus of Kirchnerism.
With this statement, Adorni seeks to make a clear distinction from his opponents and reaffirm his commitment to cutting public spending, one of the pillars of the libertarian platform.
