One of Independiente's barra leaders is arrested for supermarket robbery

Julio Navarro, leader of the Lomas de Zamora faction, was arrested and banned from entering stadiums for four years

On April 8, in the lead-up to the match that Independiente played in Avellaneda against Boston River for the Copa Sudamericana, a group of members of the Rojo's barrabrava carried out a robbery at a Día supermarket located at Amancio Alcorta and Romero, Buenos Aires City.

According to the judicial complaint, one of the supporters issued a warning in an intimidating tone: "let's see what Independiente's barra is going to take"; before several members began taking products without paying for them. Witnesses indicated that those involved, belonging to the Lomas de Zamora faction, arrived and left in a yellow bus with blue stripes, which was later identified by the police.

The investigation determined that the bus rental had been paid for by Julio Navarro, leader of that faction, who was present at the scene. In addition, seven adults and two minors were identified as alleged participants in the incident.

In recent hours, personnel from the Division of Offenses and Violations at Mass Events raided Navarro's residence in Lomas de Zamora, by order of Guarantee Court No. 8. There, a cell phone was seized and he was taken into custody. Both he and the other seven adults will receive a four-year admission ban, making them ineligible to enter any stadium.

In March, the National Government had already applied this measure for five months to Juan Ignacio Lenczicki, the main leader of Independiente's official barra, after he was filmed assaulting a woman and a man near the Libertadores de América stadium.

Lenczicki exercised strict control over stadium access, trips to Copa Argentina matches, and meetings at the Villa Domínico complex, used as the base of operations for "Los Dueños de Avellaneda", the name by which the group refers to itself.

Currently, the barra is experiencing a serious internal conflict with another faction, "La Gloriosa Banda de Independiente". The rivalry has even led to clashes outside the country, such as the one that occurred in Bolivia during a Copa Sudamericana match.
