The chancellor Pablo Quirno stated that Argentina “has chances” of recovering the Falkland Islands and expressed an optimistic stance regarding the claim for sovereignty over the archipelago.
His statements came in a context of growing anticipation for the announcement that President Javier Milei will make this Thursday night through a national broadcast.
When specifically asked about the possibilities of Argentina advancing in its claim for the islands, Quirno replied: “There are always chances, we are always closer”.
The chancellor's definition reinforced expectations regarding the content of the presidential message and once again placed the Falklands at the center of the Government's agenda.

The optimism regarding the progress in recovering the islands began after the President of the United States, Donald Trump, was asked about his country's position on the sovereignty dispute between Argentina and the United Kingdom.
In response to that question, the U.S. president said: “I always review all positions. That is just one among many”.
In this context, Javier Milei will deliver a message this Thursday at 9 PM through national broadcast specifically addressing the Falklands issue.

The presidential intervention was confirmed by presidential spokesperson Adrián Ravier, who stated: “This Thursday at 9 PM, the President of the Nation, Javier Milei, will conduct a national broadcast with a message regarding the Falklands issue”.
The Government keeps the content of the announcement under wraps and decided not to disclose the details of the intervention. According to Ravier, the message is being prepared directly by the President along with Chancellor Pablo Quirno and the State Intelligence Secretariat (SIDE).
“The content of the message is being worked on by the President, along with Chancellor Pablo Quirno and the State Intelligence Secretariat. For now, we cannot reveal more details about the content of the national broadcast”, the spokesperson indicated.
