Pity Martínez's criticism of River's management over his departure: "I was always ready to play"

Gonzalo "Pity" Martínez stood out again wearing the Tigre jersey and, after being the standout in the 3-1 victory over Racing, took advantage of the great moment he is experiencing to refer to a topic that still generates mixed feelings: his departure from River at the end of last year.

The midfielder, who scored one goal and provided one assist in Avellaneda, hinted that he does not agree with the way his second stint at the Millonario ended. "My departure last year was not easy, many things were said, we don’t have the microphone every day. I was always ready to play and I am very grateful to Tigre for giving me the opportunity to show that I am well, that I want to keep competing. I have to speak on the field, which is what I have left", he expressed.

Later, he insisted on the same topic and implied that during his last months in Núñez he did not have the opportunity to demonstrate that he was fit to compete. "I enjoy day by day, my teammates, the team that supports me as well, so I am showing that I am ready to compete no matter what. Sometimes one does not have the opportunity to speak to protect many things. I have to keep proving myself on the field, which is what makes me feel good and happy, and I have been showing for several matches that I am doing very well", he stated.

Pity's statements come at a time of great personal performance since his arrival at Tigre, a team with which he has 3 goals and 1 assist in 19 matches played. After a second stint at River marked by injuries and a lack of continuity, the player found in Matador the ideal setting to regain prominence and showcase the level that made him one of the stars of Marcelo Gallardo's cycle.

Gonzalo Martínez had two stints at the Millonario, one clearly more glorious than the other. The first, from 2015 to 2019, established him as one of the main standards of Muñeco Gallardo's team.
