The 2026 World Cup not only brings news on the field. The FIFA has launched a new system of distinctive patches on players' jerseys, an initiative aimed at highlighting individual achievements and special careers during the competition.
This measure is part of the new commercial alliance that the organization has sealed with the American company Fanatics, which will take on a more prominent role in the coming years after the end of the historic partnership between FIFA and Panini, set for 2031. Although the transition has not yet reached the traditional sticker albums, it is already visible on the sleeves of the jerseys of all participating teams.
One of the most striking details is the official World Cup patch, whose color varies according to the history of each team. The seven world champions participating in the tournament (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, France, Germany, Spain, and England) wear a golden version, while the rest of the teams use white or black variants, depending on the design of their uniforms.
Another novelty is the debutant patch, reserved for players participating in their first World Cup. In the case of the Argentine National Team, several members of the squad will wear it during their debut in the competition, including Juan Musso, Marcos Senesi, Facundo Medina, Valentín Barco, Giuliano Simeone, Nicolás Paz, and José Manuel López, as well as Giovani Lo Celso and Gerónimo Rulli, who have never played a minute in a World Cup despite having been called up in previous tournaments.
