In response to the growing wave of narco-violence in Rio de Janeiro, the National Ministry of Security, led by Patricia Bullrich, announced the activation of a maximum alert at the borders with Brazil.
The measure aims to prevent the crossing of individuals linked to the recent actions of Comando Vermelho, one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in the neighboring country.
Coordination and reinforced surveillance
"We're going to have a meeting with the National Ministry of Security and I'm going to order a maximum alert at the borders so that there can't be any kind of crossing or movement of those who must be relocating," Bullrich declared from Casa Rosada, emphasizing the government's commitment to national security.
The minister detailed that the operation will focus on strengthening migration controls and background checks of Brazilian citizens entering the country. "It means looking at Brazilians who come with four eyes, whether they have a criminal record or not. It's an alert model," she stated.

Preventive protection and coordinated strategy
The Executive seeks to anticipate any attempt by members of criminal gangs to move into Argentine territory. Sources from the ministry confirmed that cooperation with federal forces will be intensified and with Brazilian authorities to share information and prevent possible infiltrations.
Although Bullrich ruled out increasing the number of personnel at the borders, the new alert implies a higher level of surveillance and the use of preventive intelligence to detect suspicious movements. The objective, government sources emphasize, is to guarantee internal security without affecting the normal transit of tourists and ordinary citizens.

A firm approach against organized crime
The measure reinforces the government of Javier Milei's line of action on security, based on zero tolerance for drug trafficking and transnational crime. Since the beginning of her administration, Bullrich has promoted stricter border control policies, in line with the order and authority agenda promoted by the Executive.
With the maximum alert already in place, Argentina positions itself as a responsible actor in the region, willing to collaborate with Brazil to contain the expansion of drug trafficking and protect its territorial sovereignty.
