Patronato lost a multimillion-dollar lawsuit after denying an employment relationship with a physical therapist
The Entre Ríos team will have to pay a substantial amount to a former employee whom it refused to recognize as a former club worker
An unusual case shakes Patronato. The club from Paraná lost a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Mauro Mayor, the institution's former kinesiologist, to whom one month's salary was owed.
Everything began in 2021, when Mayor was informed that he would not continue in his position. When he claimed the payment for the owed month via telegram, Patronato officially replied that it "was unaware of" any employment relationship, even denying his time at the club.
The curious aspect of the conflict is that the management denied at the time that Mayor had worked there, even though the professional had served on the medical staff since 2017 and presented compelling evidence, such as delivery notes, payment receipts, and his appearance on the official rosters for Reserve and Professional League matches.

In Patronato's response to the claim, signed by the institution's legal representative, the club accused the kinesiologist of "lack of ethics" and threatened him with legal action for "abuse of the gratuity of the labor process".
With the support of documentary evidence and his registration in AFA's COMET system, Mayor initiated legal action. The lawsuit proceeded without reaching a mediation stage, and after several years of proceedings, the court ruled in his favor. Patronato must pay him about 13 million pesos, an amount that will be paid in four installments (one of which has already been settled).
More lawsuits and debts within the club
This would not be the only legal front Patronato faces. At the end of 2024, the club had a conflict with the entire medical staff, to whom it owed several months of salary and even proposed that they work for half of their usual salary due to budget cuts.
In addition, another lawsuit is underway, initiated by nutritionist Constanza Polo, who is also claiming unpaid wages. Unlike what happened with Mayor, in her case Patronato did recognize the employment relationship, although the dispute could still be solved in favor of the professional, who has the same legal team that advised the kinesiologist.

Meanwhile, as the club faces economic difficulties, these court rulings could represent a severe financial blow and expose serious problems in the management of its human resources.
