PedidosYa became embroiled in a strong controversy on social media after publishing an advertisement featuring Lucas Tresca, an actor and Kirchnerist activist who months earlier had been widely condemned for mocking a young libertarian with a physical disability.

The campaign was published on the company's official account on X, but quickly began to receive criticism from users who identified Tresca as the same young man who had gone viral for a video in which he ridiculed the physical condition of a libertarian activist. In response to the massive backlash, the company ended up deleting the post.

The incident that reignited the outrage was a video in which Tresca pretended to be a young person with a disability and made offensive comments related to his physical condition and his vote for La Libertad Avanza. In the recording, the actor mocked the lack of arms of the activist and closed the scene with a new reference to his disability "my face itches", in a tone that was described as cruel, discriminatory, and a symbol of the moral void of Kirchnerist activism.

The condemnation at that time had been massive. Libertarian users, political leaders, and thousands of accounts on social media denounced the aggression against a person with a disability, especially because the targeted young man had asked for help to obtain a prosthesis valued at millions of pesos. Finally, thanks to the support of the community, he managed to raise the necessary funds to access the prosthesis.

The appearance of Tresca as the central figure of a PedidosYa advertisement reopened the discussion. Several users questioned the company for choosing as the protagonist of a commercial campaign someone involved in such a reprehensible act. One of the messages directed at the brand stated that Lucas Tresca did not seem to represent the values of the company, unless the company considered it acceptable to mock disabled people.

The pressure on social media was immediate and the post became unavailable. In the screenshot that circulated later, the deleted ad and the message from X indicating that the author of the post had taken it down can be seen. The company became aware of the incident thanks to the liberal community on X and took action on the matter.

Tresca, who on social media defines himself as “decent, Catholic, and Peronist,” thus returned to the center of the controversy over a case that once again exposed the double standards of Argentine progressivism: those who often present themselves as defenders of empathy and inclusion end up being the protagonists of the worst episodes of intolerance when the victim thinks differently.
