Pep Guardiola, in awe of Echeverri's free kick: 'It was a fantastic goal.'
In his first start for the Citizens, the former River player excelled with a spectacular free kick in the 6-0 win against Al-Ain and was praised by his coach
Manchester Cityshowcased all its class in Atlanta and crushed Al-Ain 6-0 in the second matchday of Group G of the Club World Cup. In the British team, Claudio Diablito Echeverri stood out, as he surprised by being a starter in a line-up completely different from the debut, and he made the most of the opportunity.
At the 35th minute of the first half, the former River player scored a stunning free-kick goal, unstoppable for goalkeeper Khalid Eisa. Although he only played the first 45 minutes, his performance did not go unnoticed by Pep Guardiola, who explained his substitution for Phil Foden: it was due to "a problem with his ankle".
"It was a fantastic goal. He's an unbelievable player in tight spaces," praised Guardiola, who also shared an anecdote that reflects the young Argentine's commitment: "Since he arrived, at the end of every training session he practiced free kicks alone with the goalkeeper. The rest didn't do it. He practiced and practiced, and the work paid off."

The City coach concluded with a clear comparison: "It's like golf or basketball: the more you practice three-pointers, the more chances you have."
Diablito's stunning goal
In his debut as a starter, Echeverri was the protagonist of one of the most spectacular goals of the night. He scored his first goal for the club with a right-footed shot over the wall that left the Al-Ain goalkeeper with no chance to react.
El Golazo de Tiro Libre de Echeverri
Although he had already played a few minutes previously, this goal marked the true beginning of the youngster's career at Manchester City, but he will have to continue showing all his talent if he wants to be considered again by Pep Guardiola.
