Persona 4 Revival: Atlus's classic game returns with enhanced graphics and extras

The remake of one of the most influential JRPGs will be part of the Game Pass catalog from day one

Japanese developer Atlus has confirmed the release of Persona 4 Revival, a completely renewed version of its acclaimed role-playing title, as part of the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. This announcement has reignited the enthusiasm of Persona franchise fans and marks a new chapter for the classic starring Yu Narukami, which now adapts to cutting-edge technologies.

Kazuhisa Wada, director of P-Studio, the team responsible for development, emphasized that "this is not a simple port: it is a complete development that aims to provide a completely renewed experience for both new and veteran players." The remaster will feature substantial visual improvements, although no changes to the narrative or the main game mechanics have been revealed yet.

The game was officially presented during one of the most anticipated conferences of the year, the Xbox Games Showcase. Weeks earlier, rumors had gained traction when some original voice actors publicly stated that Atlus did not invite them to participate in this new edition. This leak, combined with the franchise's history, caused great expectations among the gaming community.

At the time of the announcement,  it was confirmed that Persona 4 Revival will be available for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC. In addition, its arrival on the Game Pass service means that thousands of players will be able to access the title at no additional cost from launch day.

What is known about the new Persona 4

Although Atlus has not yet shared a detailed trailer or extended gameplay images, it was revealed that the graphic style will be renewed, taking as reference the work recently done in Persona 3 Reload. This implies a more polished artistic direction, better animations, and possibly a redesign of the combat system.

Wada assured that the studio is "working hard to exceed fans' expectations" and promised that the title will be "surprising and fresh." However, it was not specified whether new scenes, quality-of-life improvements, or adjustments to the game's pacing will be added, as has already happened with previous installments.

The franchise and its future

With the 30th anniversary of the saga in 2026, Atlus is taking advantage of this remake as another step toward the future of the series. The release of Persona 4 Revival could also serve as a prelude to the eventual reveal of Persona 6, a long-awaited title.

Meanwhile, fans are celebrating the opportunity to relive the story set in Inaba, this time with technical quality adapted to current standards. The Persona saga thus reaffirms itself as one of the most relevant within the JRPG genre.
