Persona 5: The Phantom X already has a global release date
Atlus's new free JRPG will arrive on PC and mobile devices on June 26, 2025
The Persona saga continues its global expansion with the official announcement of the release date for Persona 5: The Phantom X.
The title, developed by Atlus in collaboration with Black Wings Game Studio, will be available for free on June 26, 2025, for PC, iOS, and Android, marking a new chapter in the history of Japanese role-playing games (JRPG) internationally.
A franchise with over 22 million copies sold
Since its breakthrough in the market, the Persona series has established itself as one of the pillars of modern JRPG, with its own identity that combines anime aesthetics, supernatural elements, and plots centered on teenage life. With over 22 million units sold over the years, it has earned a privileged place among fans of the genre.
In this context, The Phantom X arrives to renew that winning formula, offering an immersive story set in a current Tokyo and traversed by themes such as corruption, hope, and inner confrontation.

Plot and gameplay
The game's protagonist begins his adventure after a disturbing dream, which leads him to discover an alternate world where society has lost hope. In this universe, players take on the role of a phantom thief, a recurring archetype in the saga, who must face evil forces to restore balance.
As in previous installments, the "Palaces" are explored, spaces that represent the internal conflicts of different characters, and function as dungeons where players fight against symbolic enemies of negative emotions. The game also includes a cast of new characters who accompany the protagonist on his journey.
Accessible, free, and with gacha mechanics
One of the most relevant aspects of the release is its multiplatform availability. Atlus confirmed that it can be played from Steam, App Store, and Google Play, which facilitates access for both historical players and those approaching the Persona universe for the first time.
The title will feature "gacha" type mechanics, focused on the collection of characters and cards that enhance the narrative development. Pre-registration is already enabled for users who want early access to the game.
A proposal with cultural impact
After its debut in Asia in 2024, Persona 5: The Phantom X caused great anticipation among the global community. Beyond entertainment, many players value these proposals as ways to explore deep themes, such as self-discovery, rebellion against the established order, and the power of friendship.
In contexts of social or political restriction, titles like Persona offer a space for symbolic expression where players channel personal concerns through immersive virtual worlds.
With this release, Atlus reaffirms its ability to adapt established franchises to new platforms and audiences, ensuring that Persona continues to be relevant in the global gaming scene.
