The debate about a possible clash between the national teams of Argentina and Spain generated repercussions on Spanish television. During the program El Chiringuito, the panelists responded to the opinions of some Argentine media and defended the current state of the Spanish team.

Speaking on behalf of Argentina was Sebastián Vignolo, who clarified that there is no underestimation of the European team in Argentina and explained the real reason why many prefer to face Uruguay: "Today I saw Chiringuito, the host, who is very well-known in Spain. Pedrerol. I have a lot of respect," he began. He then added: "He said that Argentine media do not value the Spanish team. No, no, no, no, no. Spain is valued, of course."

In that vein, Vignolo explained: "We want to play against Uruguay, or I particularly do, because Uruguay is a classic for us. It's a match with clenched teeth, that's why, not because we think Spain is lesser. We want to play against Uruguay because Uruguay is a classic for us. Nothing more."

From the Spanish media, they responded that the criticisms towards the team led by the Spanish coach did exist, but they emphasized that Argentina has also gone through similar processes with its national team.

That's where Josep Pedrerol stated: "I believe they are doing very well. They argue that in Spain we have doubted the national team. I don't think so. They have heard some things. And because we criticized De La Fuente's first approach, the first day."

Additionally, he drew a parallel with the recent history of the Albiceleste: "But Argentina doubted its national team as well. And Argentina for many years doubted Leo Messi."
