Game Freak will release a patch that will solve progression issues and bugs in main and side quests that affected players' experiences

Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the most recent installment in the franchise, will receive its first major update in November with the goal of fixing bugs that have prevented many players from progressing. The patch, confirmed by The Pokémon Company and Game Freak, will be available for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, although the company has not yet set an exact release date.
The corrected version aims to solve bugs that block game progress, especially at key moments in the main story, side quests, and the acquisition of Pokémon that are unique. These issues have been widely reported since launch, causing frustration among a significant portion of the community.
Detected errors and consequences for gameplay
One of the most serious problems occurs when Pokémon storage boxes are full before the first Rogue Mega Evolution battle, and the box system has not been opened previously. In that state, any capture attempt fails, preventing players from adding new creatures to their team.
The situation worsens when the player tries to complete side quests that grant Pokémon as a reward: the quests are marked as completed, but do not deliver the promised Pokémon, which can prevent access to unique specimens. In some cases, players have had to restart the game, losing hours of progress and entire collections.

Additionally, errors were detected in the day/night cycle that block missions dependent on that mechanic, a particularly annoying issue for players focused on collecting or completing all side challenges.
Official response from Game Freak and The Pokémon Company
Given the growing number of reports, Game Freak replied quickly, announcing a corrective update. While version 1.0.1 had already included minor adjustments, it did not solve these structural errors. According to the official statement, the November update will seek to "restore the progress of affected missions and ensure the continuity of the gaming experience."
The community replied positively to the studio's transparency, valuing the commitment to communication and the speed in providing a solution, in a context where post-launch updates have become common but are not always well managed.

Outlook and confidence in the saga
Despite these setbacks, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is still considered a solid title that successfully expands the exploratory approach introduced in Arceus. However, the progression bugs have partially damaged the experience, especially for the most dedicated players or those with advanced games.
The upcoming patch will be crucial to restore user confidence and ensure that the transition between Nintendo console generations takes place smoothly. Game Freak's prompt response demonstrates its intention to maintain the prestige of one of the longest-running and most beloved franchises in the gaming world.
