
The Federal Police raided a teenager over alleged ties to ISIS
The Federal Police investigated residences in La Plata and Ensenada following an intelligence report that detected suspicious terrorist activity
The Argentine Federal Police (PFA) carried out a series of raids at residences in La Plata and Ensenada as part of an investigation into alleged links with the terrorist group ISIS.
The operation began following a report issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States, which warned about the online behavior of a 17-year-oldArgentine teenager, who allegedly attempted to contact individuals associated with the Islamic State through encrypted channels.

The intelligence report was channeled by the National Directorate of Criminal Intelligence and led to an investigation headed by the Federal Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 1. In coordination with the Anti-Terrorism Investigation Department, authorities managed to identify the young individual involved, who allegedly participated in conversations via platforms such as Telegram and Discord, expressing interest in "lone wolf" type attacks.
The Federal Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 1 ordered an investigation that was carried out by the Anti-Terrorism Investigation Department, which made it possible to identify the suspect and determine his place of residence. The report referred to an online group associated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS). Authorities also detected virtual links with a Uruguayan citizen currently detained for similar cases.

The procedures were authorized by the Federal Court No. 1 of La Plata, presided over by Judge Alejo Ramos Padilla, with the involvement of the Criminal Secretariat No. 2 and Prosecutor María Laura Roteta. Under the supervision of the National Ministry of Security, two residences were raided: one located on 182 Street in the town of Melchor Romero, and another on 35 Bis Street in Ensenada.
The teenager was found andnotified of the judicial process without any restrictive measures being imposed. During the operations, a shotgun, ammunition, a cell phone, and a computer were seized.
