A young 17-year-old criminal died after confronting a Buenos Aires City police officer in an attempted robbery in La Matanza.
The off-duty officer defended himself by shooting at the strikers and shot down the violent underage criminal, while his accomplices escaped. Besides the deceased thief, there were no arrests.
The episode occurred in San Justo, when the officer, after leaving a pharmacy, was approached by four thieves. With a replica weapon and on motorcycles, they tried to overpower him, not anticipating that their victim was armed.

What followed was an exchange of gunfire that ended with one thief dead from seven bullets and a scene that summarizes the state of security in the suburbs: 15 shell casings, fugitive criminals, and a community at the mercy of crime.
The Homicide Unit of La Matanza opened an investigation, with no measures against the officer. The forensic police found traces of a fierce shootout: impacts on the windshield, pierced doors, and traces of the strikers.
Another case
This was not the only recent episode of violence in the district. Hours earlier, in González Catán, another 19-year-old young man was stabbed to death in a street fight. In this case, two suspects were arrested.
La Matanza, under Kirchnerist management, is a lawless territory, where life and death are decided by gunfire. The police act when it's already too late, justice reacts when the damage is done, and the Kirchnerist government looks the other way.
Meanwhile insecurity claims lives daily, Governor Axel Kicillof continues to prioritize his political agenda, leaving citizens at the mercy of crime and neglect.
