The Córdoba justice system has decided to send the case against Gabriela Nahir Fernández (34), a man who believes he is a woman accused of alleged sexual abuse against seven female inmates inside Bouwer prison, to trial.
This is about a criminal who underwent a "gender change" and in 2018 requested a transfer to the women's ward, where he allegedly committed the sexual assaults.
According to the charges brought by prosecutor Juan Ávila Echenique, Fernández will face trial as "probable criminally responsible perpetrator of the crimes of repeated simple sexual abuse (two counts) in real concurrence with continuous gravely outrageous sexual abuse against seven female detainees, aggravated by the knowledge of being a carrier of a serious sexually transmitted disease."

Within the framework of the accusation, the prosecutor also emphasized that, in one of the episodes, Fernández was identified as "co-perpetrator of sexual abuse with carnal access by the introduction of analogous objects, aggravated by the number of perpetrators," since he allegedly acted together with two other inmates. The aggravating factor of "use of a weapon in the degree of attempt" was also added.
In the same decision, Ávila Echenique charged I. R. F. (42) and R. B. M. (26) as "probable criminally responsible co-perpetrators of the crimes of sexual abuse with carnal access by the introduction of analogous objects," although, according to La Voz del Interior, this co-perpetration is limited to a single victim.
