After a reprehensible video went viral on social media showing students chanting antisemitic slogans during a graduation trip, a young man suffered a violent assault this Tuesday in Ciudad de Buenos Aires (CABA) by a far-left pro-Palestinian activist.
The attack occurred when the victim was on his way to participate in an event marking almost two years since the massacre committed by the terrorist group Hamas in Israel. In the midst of the attack, he was struck on the head while the assailant shouted "dirty Jew."
According to the victim's own account, the incident began when, on his way to the event in Parque Centenario, he encountered a driver who had a Palestinian flag on the roof of his vehicle and decided to question him.
"I was in the car in the Almagro-Palermo area. I saw a pro-Palestinian flag on top of a car, I passed by and, without insulting, I said: "Is there no sign for the kidnapped?"" said Matías Hauszpigiel, the young man who was assaulted.

After that comment, Hauszpigiel kept moving forward, but a few blocks later he noticed that the driver was following him. He tried to get away and honked the horn to ask for help, but he was unable to get assistance.
"When I stopped at a traffic light, I saw that he got out. I tried to lower the windows because he was coming to break them. And, when I tried to open the door, he shut it. I tried to get out to defend myself, he slammed the door shut and started hitting me all over the head," the psychologist recounted in an interview with the media outlet Vis A Vis.
According to his testimony, the striker insulted him with phrases such as "dirty Jew" and "fucking Jew." Despite the violence of the episode, no one in the area approached to intervene.
"I think people thought it was a robbery. (The striker) got into his car and left with the Palestinian flag," explained Hauszpigiel. He also indicated that he managed to alert a police patrol car to the situation, but he immediately continued on to the event. He finally concluded: "He caught me completely off guard. I was very nervous, honestly, it was a very, very ugly situation."
