Raul Jalil delivers housing to scientists to attract talent to Catamarca

The delivery ceremony was led by Governor Raúl Jalil and the Minister of Housing and Urbanization, Fidel Sáenz

The Government of Catamarca completed the delivery of 30 homes in the southern area of the Capital,  reaffirming its commitment to housing access.

Four of the units were awarded to CONICET researchers, as part of a strategy to attract scientific talent to the province.

Homes for families and scientific development

The delivery ceremony was led by Governor Raúl Jalil and the Minister of Housing and Urbanization, Fidel Sáenz. Of the 30 houses delivered, 26 were allocated to Catamarcan families registered for a long time in the Provincial Housing Institute (IPV) registry, and the remaining 4 were assigned to CONICET scientists who chose to settle in the province.

This gesture is part of a cooperation agreement between the provincial Government and the National Scientific and Technical Research Council, aiming to promote research projects that strengthen Catamarca's productive and scientific sectors.

Among the authorities present were the president of CONICET, Daniel Salamone; provincial deputy María Argerich; the rector of UNCA, Oscar Arellano; and IPV officials.

A provincial effort

Minister Fidel Sáenz emphasized the provincial government's commitment in this economic context: "We continue delivering homes with our own funds. We do it convinced that this is the way to provide concrete responses to our people."

He also celebrated the arrival of scientists as part of a management model that bets on the settlement of talent in the interior: "Receiving researchers who choose to live in Catamarca and contribute to local development with their knowledge is a true pride."

Stories that move

The event was also marked by moving stories, such as that of Melisa de Varela, a mother of seven children, who waited 18 years to receive her home.  "I am happy because, finally, my daughters will be able to grow up in their own home," she said through tears, thanking the support of the authorities and her family.

Meanwhile, the president of CONICET, Daniel Salamone, highlighted that this public policy transcends administrations: "The delivery of homes is a concrete tool to attract talent."
