Noah Centineo will star in the Rambo prequel, leaving Stallone out of the saga for the first time

The Rambo saga is entering a new stage with a historic change. For the first time, Sylvester Stallone will not be part of a production centered on the Vietnam veteran who defined action cinema.
Millennium Media has confirmed that Noah Centineo will play a young John Rambo in a prequel set between 1966 and 1974.

An origin story with a different Rambo
The film, titled John Rambo, will narrate the character's beginnings before the events of First Blood (1982). It will explore his traumas, military training, and the first missions that shaped his character.
For the producers, this installment is an opportunity to win over new audiences while not neglecting longtime fans.
Creative team and previous connections
Centineo will work again with screenwriters Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, responsible for Black Adam. The direction will be led by Finnish filmmaker Jalmari Helander, creator of the acclaimed war thriller Sisu (2022).

Helander highlighted his emotional connection to the saga: "I've been a Rambo fan since I was 11 years old. Being able to direct this film is a dream come true."
Production and filming
The production will feature figures from the Stallone universe: Kevin King-Templeton (Rocky Balboa, Creed) and Les Weldon (Red Sonja), along with Avi Lerner and Jonathan Yunger.

Filming will begin in Thailand in early 2026. Lionsgate, distributor of Rambo and Last Blood, is emerging as the main candidate for global distribution.
