Axel Kicillof's right-hand man tried to evade a breathalyzer test

On Saturday at dawn, Bianco refused to take the test and his license and an official vehicle were taken away

Meanwhile, the Buenos Aires Province is going through one of the most delicate moments in recent times, both in internal politics and in the increase of crime cases, the government of Axel Kicillof adds a new shameful chapter to an administration that denotes decadence.

Early Saturday morning, the Buenos Aires Government Minister, Carlos Bianco—one of the officials closest to the governor—was intercepted on the Buenos Aires–La Plata highway while driving an official vehicle of the Buenos Aires Province. When asked to take a breathalyzer test, Bianco flatly refused to do so. As a result, the traffic police proceeded to withhold both his driver's license and the vehicle, as established by current regulations.

This incident not only highlights the reckless attitude of a high-ranking public official but also the permissiveness with which State resources are managed in Kicillof's environment. The incident took place at 1 a.m. on Saturday, just as the governor had announced a measure that further stirred the internal waters of Buenos Aires Peronism: the separation of provincial elections from national ones, ignoring the pressures from La Cámpora and former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner herself.

Bianco's behavior became a public embarrassment. As if that weren't enough, the minister himself tried to justify his refusal in statements to journalist Santiago Fioriti: "I hadn't drunk alcohol," he claimed, although he quickly contradicted himself by adding that his refusal was because "they were filming him." "I don't know what they're going to do with the video," he concluded, hinting at a fear more typical of someone who knows they're doing something wrong than of someone with a clear conscience.

Kicillof's decision to separate the elections, setting the provincial date for next September 7, was not well received within Unión por la Patria. The tension became so unbearable that an emergency summit was organized on Sunday afternoon with Máximo Kirchner and Sergio Massa, in which, despite extensive deliberations, no consensus was reached. The governor, cornered by internal divisions, finally proceeded unilaterally.
