A Newell's Old Boys jersey signed by Diego Maradona was recovered by the Córdoba Police after several days of searching. The relic, which was on display at the Industry Museum, had been stolen during an exhibition in tribute to the star. The operation took place this Thursday afternoon in the General Paz neighborhood.
According to the police report, the garment was found when officers were conducting preventive patrols in the area of 24 de Septiembre Avenue and Viamonte Street. There, they stopped an adult man who had the jersey in his possession. The suspect was arrested and taken to the police station, where he was placed at the disposal of the provincial justice.
The incident brought relief to the organizers of the event "El Mes del Diego," who had reported the theft days earlier. The jersey belongs to a collector from Villa Carlos Paz and was part of a display case dedicated to Maradona's time at Newell's. Its recovery was officially confirmed by the provincial force.

A piece of high symbolic value
The stolen garment holds immeasurable sentimental value for fans of the "Diez." It was not worn in matches, but it bears Maradona's dedication with the phrase "Con cariño, Leproso". That detail made it a unique piece within the annual tribute held in Córdoba.
Journalist and organizer Gregorio Tatian emphasized that the theft had shocked the Maradona community. He explained that the jersey "is easily recognizable and practically impossible to sell due to its public notoriety." Museum authorities confirmed that they will strengthen security to prevent similar incidents.
Since 2013, "El Mes del Diego" has brought together collectors, artists, and fans to keep the memory of the Argentine idol alive. Each edition includes photographic exhibitions, personal items, and themed murals. In more than a decade of history, the event had never recorded a criminal incident.
