A violent incident that occurred during the early hours of Christmas ended with the death of a 45-year-old man in a housing complex in the city of La Plata, after an argument with a neighbor related to the use of fireworks.
The incident took place in a monoblock located on 609 Street, between 3 and 4, and ended with the arrest of a 68-year-old retiree, who was identified as the perpetrator of the fatal shots.
According to the reconstruction carried out by the investigators, the conflict broke out when the victim's children were using fireworks at the site. In that context, the now-indicted man, identified as J.C.M., fired several shots from the window of his apartment toward a group of people who were in the vicinity of the building.
One of the projectiles struck Daniel Néstor Rubén Ramírez, who suffered gunshot wounds to the neck and left shoulder, which caused his death at the scene.

The authorities were alerted to the incident through a radio alert received by personnel from the Patrol Command, which reported the presence of a person wounded by a firearm in the housing complex. When they arrived at the site, the officers found several neighbors gathered and located Ramírez's lifeless body on the landing of a staircase in the monoblock.
According to the testimonies collected at the scene, the attack occurred suddenly and from inside the accused's apartment. In this situation, the police officers entered the indicated residence, whose door was ajar, and observed the man placing a weapon on a table. At that moment, they managed to subdue him and proceeded to arrest him without any further shots being fired.
During the procedure and the subsequent search, the uniformed officers seized a Bersa Thunder 40 PRO .40-caliber pistol, which was allegedly used in the attack, as well as a special reinforced 20-gauge shotgun, a 5-millimeter air rifle, and various ammunition.
Among the items seized were two cartridges with truncated-cone bullets, one cartridge with a blue Teflon-coated bullet, one .40-caliber cartridge with a conical bullet, and a holster for a pistol. According to police sources, none of the weapons had an outstanding seizure request.

The on-duty prosecutor, Patricio Barraza, appeared at the scene together with the homicide unit of the La Plata Departmental Directorate of Investigations (DDI), with the aim of coordinating judicial and forensic tasks. The area was preserved for the work of the experts, while medical personnel and the morgue were requested to intervene in order to transfer the victim's body.
After the homicide became known, there were moments of tension in the neighborhood. A group of neighbors set fire to the Peugeot 504 automobile owned by the accused as retaliation for the attack, which prompted the deployment of a police operation to prevent further incidents and restore order in the area.
The detainee was taken to the corresponding police station and was placed at the disposal of the Functional Instruction Unit No. 6 of La Plata, charged with the crime of homicide. Meanwhile, the victim, Daniel Néstor Rubén Ramírez, lived in the same housing complex and was identified by relatives and neighbors who witnessed the tragic incident that occurred in the middle of the Christmas celebration.
