Kuka Risk: Kicillof went on a trip to the US, criticized the RIGI, and promised to change Milei's model

The ultra-Kirchnerist governor Axel Kicillof went on a trip to New York without a defined agenda with the aim of trying to clean up the image of Peronism and its disastrous economic model in front of the businessmen present there.

However, during his activities, he again criticized the economic model of President Javier Milei and criticized the policies of tax cuts and deregulations.

Kicillof's trip to New York comes amid an unprecedented security crisis in the province of Buenos Aires, which has generated strong criticism and demands from the residents.

The Buenos Aires governor managed to have a meeting with representatives of funds that hold bonds from the Province and with executives from some companies, and questioned the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI) promoted by the national government to attract capital to Argentina.

Criticism of the RIGI in front of businessmen

After the meeting with the funds, Kicillof held a meeting with some representatives of companies. The provincial administration itself presented the meeting as an opportunity to showcase the "possibilities for productive development, innovation, and infrastructure of the province."

However, the governor's message included a direct criticism of the successful economic policy of Milei's government, which includes tax cuts, deregulation, and promotion of private investment.

The questioning particularly targeted the RIGI, the regime created by the libertarian administration to establish tax incentives aimed at large investments.

“Regarding the RIGI, we need an industrial policy that does not favor one sector over another but encompasses both large and small companies that generate more quality employment and consider the care of the environment and our natural resources,” he stated.

Kicillof also expressed his criticisms during an event at The New School, where he participated in a discussion about the future of Latin America organized by the Latin America Observatory.

There, he stated that Argentina has natural resources, productive capacities, a scientific system, and an industrial tradition that could allow it to take advantage of the new international scenario. However, immediately after, he pointed again at Milei's policies.

“Unfortunately, all of this is not being utilized because Milei's policies are at the opposite ends of our development needs,” he affirmed.

The speech came as the Kirchnerist governor seeks to strengthen his national profile ahead of 2027 and build the opposition front.
