The world's largest oil company has opened job vacancies based in Neuquén and has sparked speculation about a possible entry into Vaca Muerta

Saudi Aramco, the energy giant, recognized as the world's largest oil company, recently published a series of job openings in Argentine territory. The call, aimed at professionals based in Neuquén, surprised the local energy community and fueled rumors about possible moves in the Vaca Muerta formation, one of the most important unconventional reserves on the planet.
According to information released by EnergíaOn, the search includes seven different positions published on Aramco's official website and on platforms such as LinkedIn. The postings are aimed at technical and specialized profiles with availability to work in person and full time in the Patagonian region.
The announcement came just a few days after Aramco's global CEO, Amin Nasser, visited Buenos Aires, where he participated in a business meeting organized by JP Morgan Chase at the Teatro Colón. Back then, Nasser shared the stage with executives from YPF, Pampa Energía, and Pan American Energy, all companies with major projects in Vaca Muerta and in the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The profiles Saudi Aramco is seeking in Argentina
Among the positions published by the oil company are process engineers, data analysts, carbon market specialists, communications experts, market analysts, and technicians linked to refineries, chemicals, and LNG. The diversity of profiles caught the attention of specialists, since it is rare for a single foreign company to make simultaneous calls of this magnitude in the country.

Interest in the LNG segment also sparked speculation about a possible exploration by Aramco in the Argentine export business, an expanding market where international companies such as YPF, ENI, and ADNOC operate. However, so far no formal agreements or alliances with local operators have been confirmed.
Expectations in Neuquén and official caution
The publication of the postings coincided with a scenario of growing expectations in Neuquén, where provincial authorities are closely monitoring the movements of foreign capital in the energy sector. Although no concrete investments have been announced yet, the arrival of a company of Aramco's scale is generating optimism among local professionals and suppliers.
The Neuquén government keeps a cautious stance, recalling previous cases of failed entries or delayed projects by international companies such as ExxonMobil, Petronas, and ConocoPhillips. For this reason, although Aramco's interest is seen as a positive sign, the monitoring of the call is being carried out with caution and moderate expectations.
A company with global weight
Aramco not only dominates the global oil market: it is also a financial player on a global scale. In 2023, it posted profits of more than $106 billion, a figure seven times the market value of YPF. In addition, its CEO Amin Nasser is a member of the executive committee of the BlackRock investment fund, with interests in several Argentine energy sector companies.

The search for personnel in Neuquén, although still without confirmation of investments, reinforces Aramco's interest in exploring strategic opportunities in South America, especially in the context of an energy transition that combines hydrocarbons and new carbon capture technologies.
A move that sets the agenda
The application process will remain open until the end of the year, and results are expected to be announced in 2026. Regardless of the outcome, Aramco's initiative has put Argentina on the international radar for energy talent, attracting the attention of engineers, analysts, and experts from various sectors.
